Just putting a bug in your ear, nothing is set in stone yet, but I wanted to give you guys a heads up on what to expect in the next year at the POA.
Farmers Market
We will be having a farmers market at the POA building every other Saturday from 9-1pm between May (or June) and August. All members are encouraged to bring their produce, home made goodies, and crafts to sell or swap with other members and non-members. We will be looking for a volunteer to head this function up as I am expecting this summer and am not sure how much time I will be able to commit. Please call the office for details in the spring time around March.
Habitat for Humanity Swing-N-Saddle
Last year was our 1st annual H4H fund raiser. They had such an amazing turn out last year, that they've asked for us to host it again this year. All proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity, we are just the lucky ones that get to host it. The date has been tentatively set for Fathers Day Weekend again this year, as they would like to make this a new tradition for people to attend on the holiday. I will post more details as I get them, so keep checking back!
2nd Annual Halloween Party
The date is yet to be decided, but sometime around the 31st. We will have games and goodies for the kids again, and of course another costume contest with no age limit. As the time gets closer, we will be looking for volunteers to come help out. We had such a great response and turnout last year (around 60 people total!) that we figured we'd better keep this tradition alive!
Thanksgiving Food and Coat Drive
There are plenty of people in our community that have really fallen on hard times over the years. I would like to try to set up a drive to gather coats for local kids and adults since not everyone can afford a nice warm winter coat. I would also like if people could donate traditional Thanksgiving meal items for those in need. If you want to nominate a family, I will have the nomination form on the site this fall. The food will be delivered to each family a few days before the holiday.
Holiday Bizarre
All right all your crafty people, here's your time to shine! We will be holding a Holiday Bizarre on December 1st, 2012. You will need to get a hold of the office as the time draws near and fill out a form so you can sell your crafts and goodies. There is limited space (approximately 20) so make sure to get your form in as soon as you can. You will need to provide your own table and chairs.
